This year has changed my life, I moved to an other city, to the big Santiago. I also moved out from my family home, left behind my little brothers and sisters and started living with my boyfriend and his family, which has been a hole world of challenges, but it has been the best of the world to. I met lots and lots of new people, at the point that the first days I had to ask the name to each person at least three times. And all this because of university, because I entered the Chile University and started studying Anthropology so I could become an Archeologist.
As you can see my year started pretty well academically, and it continued like that, at first it was really relaxed, I didn´t do a thing, just went to class, in part it was funny because we kept having strokes the days that we were supposed to have tests, we even had a bomb warning, and after that we an anthropologist congress, so when we actually started having tests it all became hell, had to read like 300 pages per week, plus essays and stuff like that, so I just wanted the term to come to an end. Finally it did so and I discovered that I had learned so much in such a little time I just couldn´t believe it. But anyway it was awesome to have some free time again.
The holidays went away and we had to go back to class. The subjects weren´t as interesting as the last ones, actually there wasn´t anyone that really drove me crazy, because I don´t like that much social anthropology and the great majority of the subjects had to do with this anthropology´s area. That´s why it was much difficult to read and study all what I had to, although it wasn´t that much. Actually it has been so much relaxed than last term. As I didn´t like the subjects I started to learn Arabic and deaf language besides university, this has been really fun and next year I hope to continue learning this languages.
In conclusion I think that this year has been really productive; I had learned so many things, although in my opinion we shouldn´t have some of the subjects that we´re having right. Anyway I just loved this year and hope the degree continues like this or even better.

Anthorpology´s challenges
Well dear Anthropology I think that you have to face lots and lots of challenges specially here in Chile, because you have been let out of the biggest and important disciplines that´s why you haven´t got all the money and projects that you need to buy all the technology you need, such as better video cameras, and things as that, in archeology you need better laboratories, you need to take advantage from the new technology like infrared rays and things like that, I think that you should try to convince the government to give you special money, each year, so that you don´t have to compete against other projects that hasn´t got nothing to do with you.
About social matters I think you have even bigger challengers because your job is to work with people but at this moment it doesn´t seem so, because you are involve in discussion about your theories, questioning yourself if culture does or doesn´t exist, but you are forgetting about the people about the needs that they have about your real vocation. You have forgotten what is to go out and do fieldwork, which in my opinion is one of the more important works from anthropologist because there is where you are in contact with people. I think that you should improve your social conscience and to realize that now days natives are disappearing and you will have to study other kinds of people but not only study them, you will have to help them.
To do this I think that the first thing you will have to do is to change the education that you are giving to the students, you will have to teach them that all of the persons are equal. Then you will have to teach them how to do field work and take them out to the real world where neither Lévi-Strauss nor Malinowski will be, so they can learn by themselves and practice, so that when they finish their studies they won’t be totals looser on the field work and will know which are the people needs.
I think these are the challenges that you have to face now days!!!
Take care all of you!! C ya!

Anthropology v/s Money
Well today I´ve got to talk about money and anthropology, I think it´s quite a theme because most of the people who doesn´t know a lot about anthropology think that if you study this you won´t get any money or job when you come out, I don´t think so but I also think that sometimes it can be difficult to earn good money. That´s why I tried not to think about how I would earn money when I got into this degree. But now that time has pass away I have learned that if you follow the steps of Tudela you can actually earned lot and lot of money, you can have a salary of two million pesos!!! Imagine!, anyway I would hate to be like Tudela, so I suppose that I will have to search for my own road. I think that something you have to have to earn good money is a magister or something like that, and it has to be somewhere outside Chile. Well this would be for the people who want to study archeology, because if you´re a social/cultural anthropology you can work without having the title of the degree so I suppose that in that case you don´t need a magister or something like that. If you want to earn a lot of money you also have to work a lot, Most of the times Anthropology isn´t like medicine where you earn money by hour or something like that, you have to win projects from the state to do your investigations, it´s more difficult.
At this time I don´t worry a lot about money I just enjoy studying what I like, and I think that until I don´t get marry or until I don´t get my own house or children the money won´t be that important, if I get enough to buy food, pay the bills and go to the cinema in time in time. With that I will be really happy. But when I have my own children and more responsibilities the money will be more important that, because at that time I will have to care about other persons who probably won´t like anthropology as I do. And my children and husband will be more important than my career.
C ya!!! take care!!

Our faculty and things like that
Now i´m not very enthusiastic about writing but I have to so sorry if the blog isn´t very interesting or something like that. Well I have to talk about my faculty and university.
University!! Ciencias Sociales!! One of the best thinks it could ever have happened to me!!!!! It´s just so cool to dress however you want, and to think whatever you want without being discriminated, that´s something I didn´t know at my school J.
But although all things about thoughts and tastes are really cool, I think it has got lots of problems with infrastructure and thinks like that, for example the library doesn´t seems to be a library because you can´t see the books and everybody is talking and laughing or the microwaves don´t work and people can´t heat their lunch and things like that.
First steps for me would be to do a strike or something like that so the university realizes that we also need somethings not only the medicine school or beauchef, faculties that produce money, that it isn´t a thing of how much money does each faculty produce.
To be able to change these things first of all I would force the government to pay to the universities so they have enough money to pay for all this things.
On the future I would keep reclaiming for our rights and yea that would be for today…, maybe if I start writing another day my ideas would be much clearer!

Music... Music.. Music
What kind of music do you prefer to listen to?
What´s your favourite band/Singer
Have you ever been to a concert?
Do you play any musical instruments?
MUSIC!!!! Wow well until I got to university music wasn´t that important in my life. I used to listen to some but I could live without music without problems. But now that I arrived to this new world it all change, because of my bests new friends! They´re all crazy at music they can´t live without it and know I´m becoming a fan music to.
I listen to many different types of music and I couldn´t choose one among the others, it depends of my mood, when I´m stressed I love to listen to reggae music, especially Bob Marley, it´s just really relaxing and I feel as I was above the clouds with the sun falling on my face. If I´m happy I listen to pop music, like Shakira and stuff like that, although I couldn´t listen to Britney Spears, I really hate her music, couldn´t tell why but it is so.
As I can´t choose only one kind of music I can´t choose only one artist/band. Between my favourites bands are “Gun´s n roses” and Los Jaivas. Shakira use to be my favourite artist as I was a child, and I still think that she used to be really good, actually I still have some of her old songs on my Mp4, but with the time she has change so much and now she´s selling her body and not her voice. At this time I could say that Tracy Chapman and Bob Marley are my favourites singers. But I´ve never been to a concert from them or from anyone else… OH wait yea when I was I child I went to see “Pin-Pon el muñeco” my dad took me, but I can´t remember very much. I hope I´ll go to one someday, I´m sure I´ll go.
Although I didn´t listen to a lot of music I learned to play guitar, but please don´t ask me to play because I´m really a mess.
Hope you´re all fine and take care!!!

Foooood!! 4 ever!
Well eating is one of my favorite things to do!!! What could be better than having a big piece of pizza watching the lord of the rings, or “how to lose a man in 10 days?” It´s just a really good time to get relaxed. How you already could have realized one of my favorites food is pizza, specially the “Hawaiana”. Actually I love all kind of pastas, like spaghettis, lasagna canelonnis, etc. I also love ice-cream! I could eat ice-cream all days really. If I don´t want to eat ice-cream is because something wrong is happening to me. I also like salads, especially when the vegetables are fresh.
Well I can cook some things like rice, spaghettis (of course), kuchens, lemon pies. I would say that my specialty is rice. I hate white rice. It has to be with lots of different vegetables and species and with some nice souse, it can´t be dry!!! That would be just horrible. Someone wants to prove it???? Well this kind of rice also triggers me some memories, because the first time I ate it was at my boyfriend´s home before we started dating. Since then all the times I eat that kind of rice I remember that moment.
Although my specialty is rice, it wouldn´t be in my perfect dinner. If you sometime you want to go out with me the best meal you could prepare me would be:
First course: Some nice fresh salad with tomato and letters, maybe a ceaser salad.
Second course: It has to be pasta it doesn´t matter what type.
Dessert: A really big portion of ice-cream with cookies and everything
Well know i´ve got to go and write another blog!

Santiago ¿What the hell can you do if you´re a foreign)
Well today I´ve got to talk about places that a foreigner should visit in Santiago, but I myself don´t know Santiago very well and I think that it hasn´t got a lot of things to do or to see.
Some places I think are really cool are the Cathedral, Cerro San Cristobal and Cerro Santa Lucia, pre Colombian museum, the Mercado central and yeah that would be. About the things they have to do, mmmmm, they should eat some seafood in “El Mercado central”, should definitely try Cazuela, use the transantiago, and walk around downtown.
My top 5 places/activities list is
1º Go to the Cathedral: This was my first choice because it´s just beautiful, and incredible. To get there you have to go to la plaza, once you´re there you´ll see the cathedral. I suggest not to go on Sunday and on mass hour, because you won´t be able to walk inside and see all the beautiful things.
2º Try Cuzuela: Cazuela is just one of my favorites food, that´s why it´s my second choice. I think the best one is the one that is made of chicken
3º Go to the Santa Lucia hill: I recommend to go to Santa lucia because you´ll be able to have a nice view of Santiago (if you´re lucky and Santiago isn´t polluted), you´ll be able to go to the “Feria artesanal” where you´ll find some traditional handcraft.
4º Go to “El Mercado Central”: There you´ll be able to eat some nice seafood, in a Traditional place. The Chilean seafood is really nice!
5ºGo to the pre-colombian museum: Go there because the history from pre.colombian times is just amazing, and you´ll be able to learn a lot about it.
Well i still think that santiago isn´t that interesting, if you want to see some amazing places travell to other cities and places.
